Director's Message
The Georgia Tech Broadband Institute is an industry-academic partnership dedicated to performing leading research in the enabling technologies of next generation broadband. It is a center of excellence in broadband communications research and in applications that bring broadband technologies and services to the home and the mobile user. We promote educational programs in related science and engineering, as well as technology transfer by means of fundamental and applied research, and the creation of research testbeds. Our constant goal is to partner with many internal and external constituencies to maximize impact. In linking broadband technology to economic and business prosperity, the Institute supports the broader missions of the Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT) and the Georgia Research Alliance.
Value to industry partners is multidimensional: exposure to students as possible interns and long-term recruits, flexible mechanism for affordable R&D that the company may not otherwise pursue, technology gatekeeping, access to intellectual property, and exposure to other GCATT labs. Realizing that the importance of these values varies with company and context, we offer an elastic fee-and-benefit structure.
